Our experience
Our case studies demonstrate how we work with landowners to turn land management decisions into long-term land value and measurable ecological outcomes.
Project Name:
Bluntisham Habitat Bank
Location: Cambridgeshire, England
The Opportunity: Spanning approximately 34 hectares of previously low-yield arable land, this site offered a major opportunity to restore biodiversity on the edge of the Fens. The landowner sought to transition away from volatile agricultural markets toward a guaranteed, 30-year "green" income stream that preserved the family's land legacy.
Our Role: We manage the full end-to-end lifecycle. This includes performing the initial baseline ecological assessments, securing official registration on the National Biodiversity Gain Site Register, and managing the legal structuring. We facilitate the BNG unit registration and sales to developers, while our team handles the physical ecological delivery and the long-term monitoring and reporting for the 30-year duration.
Outcomes: Creation of a rich habitat mosaic including neutral grassland, scrub, and broadleaved woodland. The site provides a high volume of BNG units for the Greater Cambridgeshire area, fostering landscape-scale connectivity and supporting ground-nesting birds and pollinators.
Status: Live / In Delivery
Project Name:
Cottons Spring Habitat Bank
Location: Hertfordshire, England
The Opportunity: This 18-hectare site is strategically located in a high-demand development corridor. The land was previously used for intensive agriculture, and the objective was to convert it into a "stepping stone" habitat that strengthens the local Nature Recovery Network.
Our Role: Our involvement is comprehensive and end-to-end. We conducted all initial biodiversity metric assessments and managed the formal registration process. We are currently managing the unit sales and allocation to local developers. On-site, we lead the ecological delivery—from seeding to conservation grazing—and provide the long-term monitoring required to guarantee habitat bank performance for three decades.
Outcomes: Transformation into species-rich neutral grassland and native scrub. These habitats are protected by legal covenants, ensuring they provide a permanent refuge for local wildlife while providing a compliant, off-site BNG solution for the Hertfordshire region.

Project Name:
Macclesfield Habitat Bank
Project Name: Macclesfield Habitat Bank
Location: Cheshire, England
The Opportunity: Covering over 20 hectares in Cheshire East, this project aimed to enhance species-poor pasture. The landowner’s objective was to diversify their estate's portfolio by creating a high-performing natural capital asset that complements their existing operations.
Our Role: We provide a total management solution. We handled the end-to-end assessments and the registration of the site as a formal Habitat Bank. We manage the entire BNG unit sales pipeline, providing the financial bridge between developers and the landowner. Our team is responsible for the ongoing ecological delivery and monitoring, ensuring the site hits its 30-year biodiversity targets without the administrative burden falling on the landowner.
Outcomes: Significant enhancement of Lowland Meadows and mixed scrub edges. This project yields high-quality BNG units for the North West market and secures a flourishing ecological corridor that improves soil health and water infiltration across the landscape.

Successful projects depend on careful site selection, realistic ecological design, and long-term management.
